Lymphedema Breast
Have you ever checked your body after breast surgery? The lymphatic system helps to fight against infections throughout the body that contains white blood cells and other lymphatic fluids. During breast surgery, the lymphatic are disturbed leading to improper fluid drainage and swelling of the breast. The lymph nodes are sometimes removed along with this surgery and can add to the swelling. Radiation therapy causes inflammation or scarring breast tissue and lymph vessels additionally increasing the risk of lymphedema. This lymph varies from different stages. Stage 1 implies that swelling is visible and it reduces by keeping the affected breast supported or using a beaded compression breast pad. In Stage 2 the skin may or may not indent but moderate to severe skin thickness. At the final stage of the Lymphedema Breast, the skin becomes very thick and hardened in size and volume texture. Treatment is challenging at this stage and maybe irreversible. The treatments we provide in our Health Care manage to relieve these side effects.
