Nipple Discharge
Nipple Discharge is leakage or fluid discharging from the nipple. Nipple discharge may look milky, clear, yellow, green, or bloody. It may involve a single duct or multiple ducts. It can be thin and clear or thick and sticky in appearance. Most nipple discharge is associated with hormone changes and fibrocystic changes in the breast. Other causes of nipple discharge include breast infection or abscess, endocrine disorders, pregnancy and sometimes pre-cancerous or cancerous diseases of the breast. Diagnosis is made by clinical examination, imaging of the breast and sometimes cytology of the nipple discharge. Surgery for nipple discharge sometimes is warranted where there is significantly abnormality.Remember all types of nipple discharge has to be evaluated to know the cause and course of follow up.
