Ultrasound

• a. It is most often used along with a mammogram to help define the nature of breast lumps and ducts. It is used to screen women below the age of 40 years with concerns within the breasts.
• b. It can also be used for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as needle aspiration and needle biopsies.
• c. It is a safe screening tool for the breast, particularly in pregnant woman as it does not produce radiation.
